Bridge Tender House

In 2019 the state began replacing the old 1936-year-old bridge in Winneconne with a new, higher bridge that did not need a bridgetender house. The old house was too damaged to save. Residents, business owners, tradesmen and historical society members donated both cash and labor in order to get a bridgetender house replica built.
The replica contains the original control panel used by the bridgetenders to raise and lower the draw of the Merritt F. White bridge from 1936 through 2018. Also on display are one of the traffic gates, a flashing signal light and a portion of the original Merritt F. White bridge railing.
The dedication for this sixth museum building took place in August of 2021.
